mentally confined and limits

I watched a video of a young man who was tried and put in prison for a crime he committed as a minor. Then he was put in solitary confinement for misbehaving in prison. He mentioned in the talk that during his time in confinement, he began pacing, then talking to himself. And whatever he thought, controlled him. This may seem like it's going in a bad direction but surprisingly, he decided to use his time in prison to better himself. Because the other prisoners or guards sure as hell won't make him better. Long story short, he was able to utilize his time in prison by reading and educating himself. He now works towards rehabilitating the youth who are going through the same thing he went through as a kid. His aim and purpose is only guiding the juvenile prisoners forward and towards a better future for them.
This video made me think of how much mind has control over us.
Surely, you don't have to be confined in small cell to understand that your mind can control your actions.
It is so easy to think bad thoughts of others ...and maybe so difficult for some to think good thoughts of others. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
if we can make our mind believe that a person has bad intentions, why can't we control our mind to see the good too????
The other day, I watched a movie called Whiplash. Moral of the story has to do with testing our limits. How do we know our limits or push our limits? Is it when we're mentally incapable of pursuing a desired goal? Is it when there's no more to give than what we've given?
environment, society, family and friends.
Just YOU & YOUR MIND. It starts with you.
MIND OVER MATTER..
